DevOps and Cloud Engineer

Designing and operating cloud infrastructure and pipelines for United States, Canadian and European software clients from Bogotá. A senior role with technical influence.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code, primarily Terraform
  • Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines for build, test and deployment
  • Implement and operate container orchestration, primarily Kubernetes
  • Design and implement progressive delivery: feature flags, canary deployments, automated rollback
  • Build observability: distributed tracing, structured logging, metrics and SLO-based alerting
  • Conduct cloud cost analysis and implement optimisation: right-sizing, commitment planning, waste elimination
  • Lead incident response for platform incidents and drive blameless post-incident review
  • Implement and maintain security controls: secrets management, network policy, least-privilege access, vulnerability scanning
  • Build self-service tooling that allows application engineers to provision environments without platform team involvement
  • Participate in architectural design and technical decision making with client engineering leadership
  • Document architecture, runbooks and operational procedures to a standard the client team can operate
  • Deliver against knowledge transfer milestones
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers across accounts
  • Participate in on-call rotation

Requirements

  • English at CEFR C1, assessed before offer. This role is client-facing and conducted primarily in English.
  • Native or fluent Spanish
  • Five or more years in DevOps, platform engineering, site reliability engineering or cloud infrastructure
  • Deep hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Strong Terraform or equivalent infrastructure as code experience in production
  • Production Kubernetes experience including networking, storage and workload management
  • Strong scripting and automation: Python, Go or Bash
  • CI/CD platform experience: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI or Jenkins
  • Observability tooling experience: Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
  • Demonstrable incident response experience in a production environment
  • University degree in computer science, systems engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Availability for on-call rotation and to work onsite in Bogotá two days per week
  • Valid Colombian ID or work permit

Preferred

  • Cloud certification: AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert or GCP Professional Cloud Architect
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist
  • Service mesh experience: Istio, Linkerd
  • Experience with cost management at scale and FinOps practice
  • Experience in a regulated environment with SOC 2, PCI-DSS or HIPAA control requirements
  • Prior experience as a technical lead or platform team lead
  • Colombian and Latin American diaspora engineers returning from abroad are strongly encouraged to apply
